Conditions of entry

Max Harris Poetry Award 2008
- The Max Harris Poetry Award is open to all Australian citizens and permanent residents of Australia.
- Entries must be the original work of the entrant and be unpublished and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
- Only one entry, of up to three poems, per person will be accepted.
- The entry fee is a non-refundable $10 for one poem and an extra $5 per poem for up to two additional poems. Receipts will not be issued.
- Poems should not exceed 60 lines.
- Please include three hard copies of each poem for the judges.
- Entries should be typed, single-spaced and presented on white A4 paper. The entrant’s name should appear only on the entry form, and not on the poem(s).
- Please do not submit original manuscripts. Entries will not be returned.
- Entries without entry forms and the appropriate fees will not be considered.
- The closing date for entries is 15 July 2008.
- Entries by email, fax or on disk will not be accepted.
- Poems must not contain offensive material that breaches the university’s ethics regulations.
- Members of the Poetry and Poetics Centre Committee and Advisory Board are ineligible to enter the competition.
- The winning and commended writers will be notified by email.
- The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The winning entry and two unpaid commended entries will receive UniSA Max Harris Poetry Award Certificates, which will be presented at the award ceremony in October 2008.
- The best entries will be considered for the Max Harris Poetry Award poetry collection to be published in 2009.
- Poets whose poems have been selected for the collection will be notified in February/March 2009.
- Cheques and money orders should be made payable to: Max Harris Poetry Award, Poetry and Poetics Centre, UniSA.
