The founding of the Poetry and Poetics Centre responds to the University of South Australia’s call for engagement with creativity and diversity, and a sustained commitment of the academy to the industry and our community.

All our members are published poetry and poetics authors, and some of us also choose to work and/or study in an academic setting. We look at poetry from the point of view of the writer who puts his/her work in front of the public for scrutiny, and also from the point of view of the theoretical inquirer of the making and understanding of poetry.

Our website features new poetry, interviews and reviews, and is open to all poets in Australia. Send us your poems for publication and your new collections for reviewing, and our team of editors and reviewers will publish on the site materials that we believe reflect accurately and impartially the current Australian poetry scene.

Also, check our site for updates and information about the Poetry and Poetics Symposium and the 2007 Max Harris Poetry Award.

Our members are engaged in active research in the field of poetry and poetics. Check our site to find out more about our research and our publications.
